We are really looking forward to heading back to the 3rd annual Sattva Summit this November 7-13, 2019. The Sattva Summit is truly an event like no other! It’s a festival-meets-retreat vibe, all in the most majestic location in the Himalayas. Yogis from all over the world come together for this intimate gathering. New connections are made while deep transformation takes place through unique Himalayan practices.
We had the amazing opportunity to speak with Annemarie Brown, the producer of this incredible and transformational event!
What sets the Summit apart from other Yoga Summits and Yoga Festivals?
The Sattva Summit is a small, intimate gathering, while yoga festivals tend to have many attendees. The Summit has the high vibration of a festival, but it also provides the profound personal experience of transformation that a retreat does. Through meditation, healing, ritual, ayurveda, sacred art, culture, and excursions to local temples and ashrams, the Summit offers a comprehensive experience to those who attend. All of the teachers and Masters at the Summit are not only teaching, but living the life of a yogi as well. They are integrated in the world around them, yet practicing the ancient science and technology of yoga for hours a day! This is a place for the modern person to find an authentic yoga experience.
Why India?
Rishikesh is the birthplace of yoga, as well as the source of these teachings. The Summit is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, where all the great masters came for their sadhana (yogic practices), and this vibration can truly be felt. India is a place that is unpredictable, offering opportunity for personal expansion in each moment. The unpredictability of this land shows you how synchronistic and full of miracles life is.
You are in your 3rd year of running the Summit. What continues to inspire you?
We are inspired each year as we witness the experiences that people have when they come here: the celebration of life, of yoga, and of community. The friendships people make are lifelong connections of a dharmic nature, meaning they meet those who inspire them, uplift them, and help them grow. This dharmic family is here to keep participants in the elevated flow of consciousness and to assist in their refinement.
Who will be teaching at the Summit this year?
This year’s lineup of teachers is amazing! Anand Mehrotra, the founder and visionary of Sattva Yoga, will guide us on an inward and cosmic journey of transformation through his profound teachings and yogic journeys. Sadhviji, of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, will impart wisdom through her life experiences. Gurmukh, the queen of kundalini yoga, will guide her joyous and playful practices, creating high vibes. Sattva Yoga Master teachers will also hold yogic lifestyle workshops and guide blissful Sattva Yoga Journeys.
Is there anything new happening this year, and do you have a theme for this year?
The theme for this year’s Summit is to give everyone a taste of cosmic consciousness. What does that mean? To dip into the ocean of bliss with just one cosmic experience, where all life merges into oneness. This is why we practice yoga: to taste this epic bliss. So, we are excited to go deep and explore the cosmic realms of existence with you all. In addition, we will continue to have our evening extravaganzas of cultural performers, musicians, and elegant beauty as we celebrate this life and all that it has to offer.
